The Alexander Lowen Foundation is very pleased to announce an “Experiential Workshop in Bioenergetic Analysis” offered by Scott Winfield, MSW, CBT in Buenos Aires, Argentina from October 30--November 2, 2008. Scott is a seasoned, brilliant, sensitive Bioenergetic trainer and therapist who strongly integrates over 30 years of Bioenergetic and Psychoanalytic experience. When Scott lead the training workshop of the Florida Society for Bioenergetic Analysis last weekend, he was asked who was his first patient. Scott explained that he was a 21 years old, living in Woodstock, NY and his first patient was a catatonic schizophrenic. Scott worked with him 40 hours a week—8 hours a day—5 days a week for 2 ½ years. He took the man being twisted, unable to communicate with anyone, not able to take care of his bodily functions, to being able to function moderately well, interact with people, laugh and breath much more fully in his body. Scott still has the same pure courage and devotion to the life force now, having practiced psychotherapy for 32 years.

English: An Experiential Workshop of Bioenergetic Analysis

This professional workshop will focus on the physical dynamics of a person's neurotic struggles, character structure and frustrations in living. Bioenergetic Analysis offers an additional approach to verbal psychotherapy and psychodynamic science with which to understand and treat emotional problems. When woven together with psychodynamic intervention and analysis , greater opportunity exists to be of help to others in their quest for self understanding, freedom, and in their capacity for joy and contentment.

Bioenergetic Analysis was created by Alexander Lowen in the late 1950's It essentially represents his personal understanding and further development of Wilhelm Reich's unique contribution to psychoanalytic theory and technique (character analysis) including his departure into the body as a part of the treatment process and his further elucidation and development of Freud's energic concepts. Reich saw the apparent dualism of the mind and the body as more of a surface phenomena which in its depth consisted of a fundamental unity in the manifestation of life. This unity was torn asunder and particularly at odds with itself in the neurosis. Internal conflict, narcissism, lack of self hood, impulsivity, in short all of the studied psychological conditions of health and dysfunction expressed themselves in the somatic realm of functioning, biophysiologically and could be worked upon directly to foster growth and healing.

Areas such as the role of respiration in neurosis, the garnering of information from direct observation of the body as it relates to the personality, experience and conflict of the individual and Lowenian exercises designed to promote self awareness, expression and selfhood and relaxation will be highlighted and addressed.

Participants will have the opportunity to partake in individual bioenergetic sessions in front of the group which will be followed by group processing. This is not mandatory.

Scott Winfield practices bioenergetic analysis, psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic pschotherapy in Fort Lauderdale, Fl, USA. He has been a student of the theory and practice of psychotherapy for over thirty years.

Spanish: Un Workshop vivencial en Análisis Bioenergético

En este workshop vivencial focalizaremos el trabajo en las dinámicas físicas que se presentan en los diferentes conflictos neuróticos, estructuras de carácter y frustraciones en la vida.  

El Análisis Bioenergetico ofrece un aporte muy rico a la psicoterapia verbal para comprender y tratar los problemas emocionales.  

En esta combinación de la intervención psicodinámica y el análisis bioenergético encontramos una oportunidad muy poderosa para ayudar a las personas a auto comprenderse, a lograr la libertad y a alcanzar la capacidad de gozar la vida. 

El análisis bioenergético es una disciplina desarrollada por Alexander Lowen a fines de la década de los 50. La misma representa su propio desarrollo y entendimiento de la contribución única realizada por  Wilhelm Reich al psicoanálisis (con su desarrollo del análisis del carácter) incluyendo su acercamiento al cuerpo como parte del proceso de la terapia así como también la elucidación de los conceptos aportados por Freud sobre la energía. Reich observó el aparente dualismo de la mente y el cuerpo como un fenómeno mas de superficie ya que en lo profundo hay una unidad fundamental en la que se manifiesta la vida.

Temas como el rol de la respiración en la neurosis, la información que nos brinda la observación directa del cuerpo y como se relaciona con la personalidad, la experiencia y los conflictos personales y los ejercicios desarrollados por A. Lowen diseñados para promover la auto consciencia, la auto expresión, la seguridad personal y la relajación serán temas a abordar durante el Workshop.  

Los participantes tendrán la oportunidad de tener sesiones de bioenergética frente al grupo y luego participar de procesar la sesión entre todos. La participación es voluntaria.  

Scott Winfield practica el análisis bioenergético, el psicoanálisis en Fort Lauderdale, Fl, USA. Comenzó su formación hace 30 años y sigue practicando, estudiando y forma parte de la formación que ofrece la fundación Alexander Lowen en distintos países (www.lowenfoundation.com). 

El Workshop será en Argentina, los días 30, 31 de Octubre 1 y 2 de noviembre (3 días y medio, terminando el domingo 2 a las 12.30 horas).
